It’s hard to imagine an outdoor newborn session when I’m currently writing this in January on a frigid day, but spring will be here before we know it and now is the time that many expecting mamas are planning their May-August newborn sessions and reaching out to book. So I guess it’s a great time to share this beautiful flower garden outdoor newborn session from last summer.
This flower garden has got to be my most favourite spot for outdoor newborn girls. You can see from my blog posts that I’ve done quite a few of them here. It’s quiet. It’s quaint. And it provides the most perfect backdrop for family newborn photos. An outdoor newborn session is a great option for parents who have babies born in spring or summer, wish to be involved in a lot of the photos included in their final gallery and want fresh air, something unique and elements of nature as parts of their photos. I always aim to capture some solo shots of baby – usually on a blanket or in a basket but for most of the session your baby will remain in your arms, which is where they are happiest anyway. The timing of this type of session is very flexible. This darling girl was 1 month old at the time of her session and it was ideal. She was nice and cozy in a swaddle and once she was in a deep sleep we unwrapped her and took some photos in one of the knit outfits from my studio wardrobe. Her parents were thrilled with their final gallery and I loved meeting them and capturing this huge milestone for their family.
