This is such a beautiful session that I’m happy to finally be sharing. Mom contacted me shortly after they welcomed their baby boy requesting a newborn session and we ended up booking their photos for when he was about 1 month old. I’m grateful to have been able to accommodate them so quickly. Baby boy C was just days past the one month mark when we did his in-home newborn session and he was already a big boy! Mom had found me on Instagram and she loved the simple and natural style of my newborn images – both the candid type photos with mom and dad holding baby and the sweet swaddled newborn pictures. Even though their baby was bigger and older, my workflow is pretty much the same. At age one month baby will likely spend a good part of our time together wide awake, which is exactly what Baby C did. Look at his adorable personality and his ability to lock eyes with the camera. Those are some of my favourite shots! He did fall asleep with some cuddles and a bit of a swaddle near the end of our session and I worked quickly to capture as many images of him sleeping and his tiny details like his hands and toes while he was nice and calm. In the end they received a huge final collection of images in their gallery and everyone was thrilled.
I never like turning anyone away, even if I’m fully booked so I often am able to offer an older newborn session when baby is 1-2 months old. Every time we do an older newborn session, the parents are thrilled with the images I’m able to capture. Older newborns have become a bit of a speciality of mine – so much so that I’ve recently had parents request to wait until baby is 2 months old to capture them, even if they are inquiring well in advance and I do have spots open at the time of their due date.
