This family knew right away that they wanted their newborn portraits done at home and once I arrived, I could completely see why. They had a gorgeous Oakville home that was bright and full of light. Their decorating was neutral, simple and beautiful, which made for the perfect backdrop for their family photos. They had a ton of windows in each room – and I always say, light is the number one factor for good photos. It was a gorgeous day outside, and that helped too. When inquiring about newborn photos, mom said that she loved the light + airy photos on my website. It’s worth mentioning that if your home is on the darker side, with small windows and decorated with dark wood furnishings and wall paint that’s a dark colour, the resulting images are going to be more dark + moody vs light + airy. Thankfully, this family’s decor matched their goals for the outcome of their newborn portraits.
I immediately warmed to this family as they welcomed me into their home. Their master in particular had a huge picture window and a side window that perfectly lit their giant bed. So we started in this room and did most of the photos there. Baby boy B needed to be fed in the middle of the session, which was perfectly fine. It gave mom and I a chance to get to know each other.
Big brother did a fantastic job in his sibling photos and was very sweet, outgoing and gentle. I’ve included a few of my favourite images from their lifestyle newborn session, but really I could have posted every single one.
