I have to be honest with you, I’m a big mixture of happy and sad writing this blog post. This family has brought me so much joy in the last year. I met them at their newborn session with baby Matthew when he was just 7-days old and instantly I loved them. Here temporarily, from Australia they told me of their adventures in Canada so far and I felt very blessed to be a part of their journey. We talked about doing a milestone session for Matthew in the summer and we did just that with an outdoor family session in Hamilton. They have done an amazing job documenting Matthew’s first year as well as their time in Canada. To celebrate baby Matthew’s first birthday we decided to do a lifestyle family session in their beautiful and historic Dundas cottage home so that they could remember the times they spent together starting their family within those four walls. It was a perfect plan because Matthew won’t remember his time in Canada and these images will allow his parents to show Matthew his very first home.
We had such a great time capturing their love in each of the rooms where this family of three spent the most time together – the living room, baby’s nursery, the master bedroom and the kitchen, which is the heart of every home! The stars even aligned and we were blessed with a warm day among this frigid and snowy winter. We totally took advantage of that and popped outdoors to capture the exterior of their temporary home and to photograph this Australian family in the snow – something they won’t encounter at all once back in their homeland. All of these details are so special. They have already landed back home and I miss them terribly. I’m not great at goodbyes to begin with, but give me a sweet family like this one, an adorable baby I’ve watched grow and change, and I’m bound to get teary eyed.
