Another one of my newborns is turning one and my favourite way to celebrate, of course, is with a Pure Baby session. Ronin and his parents came back to my studio to capture some simple and timeless images of him in celebration of his first birthday. It hasn’t been too, too long since I’ve seen this sweet trio. They did a fall family session with me when Ronin started sitting. I really enjoyed catching up with them and having some laughs as we marvelled over their adorable son! Ronin brought along his favourite lovie, a soft elephant cuddle toy. I always made sure to capture images of my children while they were in the stage where their “lovie” came with them everywhere they went. Be it a blanket, a stuffed animal or a toy, many babies have that one thing they cannot live without. It brings them comfort when they need it the most and I encourage families to bring this along to their first birthday session. Not only does it make for some adorable images but it’s one of those “must have” photos documenting their childhood. One day that lovie won’t be as important to them as it is now. Slowly that lovie will spend more nights at the bottom of the toy box than tucked under your child’s arm. And if you are a sappy mom like me who hangs onto every moment trying to freeze time and cherish the baby stage forever, you’ll be a little sad. Thankfully I have images to remember these times and to share with my children as they age.
Watching Ronin cuddle and smile with his elephant toy brought me a ton of joy. We took pictures of that, his whispy hair that stood straight on ends in places and as many other baby moments I could capture in their short session.
