Get ready for some cuteness! Baby Grant came back to my Burlington studio to celebrate turning one with a Pure Baby session. He was on the move and excited to play with the wooden studio toys. This family came from Cambridge for both their newborn session last year and their baby boy’s first birthday session recently. I love when a family contacts me for a clean and simple birthday session. I’m sure you have all seen the bright, bold birthday set-ups with cake smashing and lots of colourful, themed props. While adorable and extremely creative, that’s not for me and it’s not what I offer. Instead, first birthday sessions at my studio are much more natural and timeless. I prefer to keep the focus on your baby’s details and personality before they seem to leave their baby stage behind. You’ll see in this baby’s images below, I was able to capture multiple expressions and his unique sparkling blue eyes… the way he cuddled in with his mama and reached for his dad… Soon after baby turns one, they walk right into toddlerhood and suddenly your baby doesn’t feel like quite a wee baby anymore. Around one year old most babies are crawling around fairly quickly, so I do incorporate some organic wooden toys to keep them still and entertained. I love to plan these sessions, especially for babies who came to me for newborn portraits. It’s so fun to see a familiar family again and hear all about their journey raising their new little one for the past year. I provide studio wardrobe pieces that are classic, simple and photograph well. You are also welcome to bring along your own outfits or sentimental items, like the knit blanket you see here. That is something special to Grant’s family and they wished to have it incorporated into his session. I love how it provided the perfect amount of texture and feeling of comfort in the images where he snuggled with his mama, and it became something he interacted with while crawling around.
