Another baby’s first year milestone set of sessions has come to a close. I was able to document this couple’s journey to parenthood and through baby’s entire first year from maternity to newborn to sitter and finally a first year session for their baby girl. This little sweetie was born early spring and we decided to wait a couple months for her first year photos so we could do it outside involving the whole family – including their two dogs! They decided on a local park with a rustic farm setting and it was the perfect evening with fantastic weather. Baby I was not yet walking, although I think she’s close. We captured a huge gallery of images of the three of them. Like myself, Baby I is a big fan of Sperry’s and we had the same shoes on that evening. Kindred spirits we are…. 😉
It’s always lovely when a family books my milestone package. It means I get to be a part of the whole journey of baby’s first year. It involves 3-4 sessions from maternity to newborn to sitter and finishes with photos around the month when baby turns one. That first year of parenthood is BIG. It’s hard, it’s overwhelming, it’s full of joyful moments but at the same time, it’s easily forgotten in the blur of no sleep and constant business caring for a little one. For me, it means I get to see baby grow and change and at the end of it all, my clients feel more like friends.
One of the major benefits of the milestone plan is that pre-booking guarantees you a spot on my calendar. Every month I have to turn away families from booking because I’m full. I take on a limited amount of sessions per month, and in the blur of parenthood it’s easy to forget to book until the moment is upon us. Families who reach out once baby is sitting or just before they turn one often don’t get a spot because my calendar is already full.
