Finally getting around to blogging these adorable photos. This family booked my baby’s first year milestone plan and chose to do maternity, studio newborn, studio sitter and first birthday outdoor sessions. Getting to see a baby throughout his first year every few months is such a joy for me. You can see in these photo collections just how much baby’s grow and change those first 12 months. And trust me, they go by quickly. I’m very grateful that is couple trusted me to beautifully capture their son’s important milestones.
Their studio maternity session was a lot of fun and gave us a chance to get to know each other before they came back for their newborn session. They were such an easy going and happy couple. I knew then, we were going to have a fantastic year together. Maternity sessions are held between 32-35 weeks along, and because I typically book up in advance, it’s best to reach out early to secure your spot.
A studio newborn session is done in those first precious few weeks and you can see that baby boy gave us both awake and asleep images. As always, I kept the backgrounds neutral and simple so that we could focus on what’s most important – their sweet baby and all his unique features and personality.
6-months later they came back to visit for his sitter milestone. Look at how much he grew! At this age, when babies are sitting but not yet crawling, they are at their most chunky and baby boy certainly delivered the best and cutest rolls. My favourite! Since it was just before Christmas, we incorporated some themed images for their Christmas cards.
Lastly, we headed down to the beach soon after baby turned one to capture outdoor family portraits. It turned out that he actually hated the sand, which was funny for all of us. So we got lots of images of them snuggling him and eventually he warmed up to the idea of sand and the waves of the water.
The end of baby’s first year is always bittersweet. I am always so close with the family at that point, and I’m grateful to have captured all these fun memories for them. But, it means I won’t get to see them every few months anymore. The next photos will be at an outdoor family session the following year, or perhaps another newborn session should they be blessed with another baby.
