Meet baby Nancy. At six weeks old she is much older than many of the newborns I photograph in-studio. Her mama contacted me to get professional photos done of her new baby girl. They were unable to capture newborn photos when she was brand new and although she was really hoping to get a few sleepy shots, we were prepared for an entire gallery of Nancy awake. After two weeks of age, newborns are more alert and aware of their surroundings so it can be difficult to get them into those sleepy poses. Older newborns still like to be swaddled so I planned to use this to my advantage and capture beautiful images of this baby girl all swaddled up cozy… but awake. Miss Nancy arrived asleep in her car seat so I carefully and slowly took her out and bundled her up. The studio was warm and ready as it is for all my newborn sessions and this baby girl was happy as can be. She stayed asleep as I transferred her and slept almost the entire session. Near the end, we captured some awake images because we wanted both in her gallery. Such a perfect session! Here are a few images favourites.
