I’ve been posting about how much I LOVE first birthday sessions outdoors lately. This is true, I much prefer to get a mobile baby outside and capture photos involving the whole family, but here in southern Ontario, that’s not an option year-round. The winter and early spring months are just too chilly to take a wee baby outside and expect them to be carefree and happy. So, in those months, my warm and cozy studio is a fantastic option. Baby’s first birthday is an important milestone and deserves to be documented. We documented her smiles, serious faces, little details like hands and eyelashes and of course we made sure to have some themed birthday images in the mix too. My wood cake and ONE letters make the perfect props that are timeless and simple so that these images don’t go out of style. Parents love printing these images and putting them out at baby’s birthday party – which is why I typically do these sessions a few weeks before their special day.
A year prior we captured baby B’s newborn photos in my studio. Even after all this years of photographing babies, it’s always shocking to me just how much they grow and change in just 12 short months. Many families choose to add a first birthday session onto their newborn booking and I love this because it means I’ll get to see them again and catch up on all the fun things they have done in baby’s first year.
