I received some exciting news yesterday! The National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP) released the winners of their February 2018 international competition and I’m so grateful that my image was awarded Recognition of Merit in the newborn category. How fun! Thank you to the judges who, no doubt, had a tough job evaluating all the amazing images.
I absolutely love Lifestyle Newborn photography. Each session is always so different and I love to gather inspiration from each family’s home. When I saw this beautiful staircase I knew instantly I wanted to incorporate it somehow. After touring the upstairs of their home and walking back toward the main level to grab my camera gear I looked down the staircase and loved the leading lines and depth it provided from the view above. Thankfully this new family of three trusted my guidance when I asked them to sit mid-staircase with their 5-day old baby. It turned out as wonderful as I imagined in my head and this image became a new favourite among my recent lifestyle images.
Designed to recognize the world’s most successful child photographers, the NAPCP Image Competition called for images across a range of category subjects including Maternity, Newborn, Babies, Children, Siblings, Toddlers, Tweens, Seniors and Family. Image submissions were carefully judged by a blue-ribbon panel of experts based on impact, technical merit, composition and creativity.
