When people think of newborn photography, what usually comes to mind first is the Anne Geddes type session where baby is posed surrounded by a lot of colour and props. While there are still a lot of photographers who approach newborn photography in a similar style, there are a lot more options nowadays for new parents. Lifestyle photos done in-home have really grown in popularity. I’m so happy about this because capturing authentic “real life” type images is what first drew me to photography over a decade ago when my first son was born. Because lifestyle photography is a bit “newer” I am often asked by families on what to expect. How do I approach these sessions? Will their house work for this and what type of images will they receive?
While every session is different in it’s own way, just like every home and every baby is unique, I approach lifestyle sessions the same way. I aim to keep things simple and natural as possible. Every family will receive a detailed email from me and my lifestyle prep guide. These answer a lot of questions on what to wear, how to prepare your home (don’t worry, it’s not a lot!), how to get baby ready the morning of our session and when is the best time to schedule our session.
Lifestyle photos capture your family’s authentic first days with a new baby.
Here’s a great example of the love and connection of a new family of three. This teeny baby girl was 1 month old at her session. If you are interested in finding out more about my lifestyle photography, contact me for more info and availability.
