I was honoured when this family contacted me again to photograph baby girl number 2 for them. They scheduled a studio newborn session with me and it was absolutely perfect. Seeing them again was a great joy for me and getting to witness their first daughter as a big sister whom I photographed just over two years ago as a newborn herself was mind blowing. It’s hard to imagine that much time has passed so quickly. She did so well with her little sister. While two year olds definitely have a mind of their own, I’ve got lots of tricks up my sleeve to encourage them into getting their picture taken if at first they are a little unsure. In fact, they usually forget they are having their picture taken as I joke around with them a bit. I’m never too proud to be silly and goofy in order to get a sweet smile out of a toddler.
Baby girl M was closer to the 3-week age and spent a part of her time with me wide awake. I say this all the time, but those awake shots always seem to be the favourites because baby’s personality shines and they look so adorable gazing up at the camera. As always, the finished gallery was huge – it was full of her cute expressions, sleepy poses, tiny details like hands, lashes, lips and toes, as well as plenty of images where baby is lovingly in her parents arms. Here’s a small collection of what we captured in her studio newborn session this winter.
